Avoided Emissions

Modeled Historic Avoided Marginal Carbon Emissions are estimated based on the project’s modeled hourly generation using the project location, equipment type, power curve, and actual hourly weather conditions from the previous year and WattTime-modeled 5-minute marginal emissions rates for the location of the project from the previous year. Modeled Historic Avoided Marginal Carbon Emissions are an estimate of the impact the project would have made if it were operating for the previous full calendar year. Current Greenhouse Gas Protocol does not allow for the avoided marginal emissions of projects to be reported against a company’s carbon reduction goals.

This data should be used for internal company informational purposes. It allows companies to include the potential impact a project will have on reducing greenhouse gas emissions as a key criteria during project selection.
