On the Job Safety with EE: Proper CPR Technique

Safety is one of the fundamental values at Edison Energy – from physical safety to cyber and psychological safety. To further promote our commitment to safety, we offer CPR, first aid, and AED training to all employees every two years. In the second edition of “On the Job Safety with EE”, Steven Verdi, Director, Environmental Health & Safety, demonstrates three important steps of performing CPR:

Step 1: Line up the heel of your hand with the breastbone for chest compressions.
Step 2: Each round of CPR consists of 30 chest compressions. Each compression should be at a depth of at least two inches.
Step 3: After you give 30 chest compressions, you give two rescue breaths. Pinch the nose and tilt the head forward. The breaths should last around one second.

Immediate CPR can double or triple chances of survival after cardiac arrest. Emergencies can happen anywhere, on from a job site to your home, which is why it is crucial to be equipped with the skills to perform this live-saving procedure.
