IRVINE, Calif. — June 27, 2017 — Edison Energy will accept a prestigious industry award for its contribution to leadership in clean technology this week at the annual Grid Edge World Forum in San Jose, CA.
The 2017 Grid Edge Award recognizes PowerBloks™, the innovative 10 megawatt, 10-year renewable energy power purchase agreement (PPA) developed by Altenex, an Edison Energy company.
With this award, Edison Energy is being acknowledged by Greentech Media as one of 20 companies worldwide that are “… paving the way toward tomorrow’s distributed energy systems.”
“Today’s market for corporate renewable PPAs is dominated by large companies serving as ‘off-takers,’” noted Greentech Media in its earlier announcement of the award. “Edison Energy wants to open the market to smaller companies, and its PowerBloks PPAs are the solution.”
Launched in January, PowerBloks PPAs represent a fundamental shift in the way renewable energy is purchased, and, have the potential to dramatically expand the United States’ renewable energy market.
“Through PowerBloks PPAs, Edison Energy is helping organizations with smaller energy demands benefit from purchasing renewables,” said Duncan McIntyre, President of Altenex. “Mid-size companies, universities, and cities can all manage their energy risk, reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, and help drive the U.S. clean energy transformation.”
