Edison Energy, an independent energy advisory and solutions integration company for the nation’s largest energy users, announced that it has signed a three-year agreement with the San Diego Unified Port District (Port) to provide a wide range of energy consulting and reporting services aimed at reducing emissions and optimizing its energy management. Edison Energy will collaborate with the Port to accomplish one overarching goal: Improve the well-being of the community by achieving the long-term environmental benefits and greenhouse gas reduction targets set forth by The Green Port Policy, an initiative of the Port, and President Obama’s Climate Action Plan.
Edison Energy’s core responsibilities for the Port’s properties include aggregating and benchmarking utility usage data, designing training programs for more than 800 local businesses and reporting on the Port’s progress in energy conservation and greenhouse gas emissions reduction. The project will be managed by ENERActive Solutions, an Edison Energy company. ENERActive Solutions is a full-service energy consulting and project development firm, specializing in the analysis and development of energy efficiency projects.
“The Port of San Diego has consistently been ahead of the curve with regard to environmental initiatives, as evidenced by the Port’s ongoing initiatives in resource conservation, waste reduction and pollution prevention,” said Allan Schurr, president of Edison Energy. “We’re delighted to help them achieve their emissions reduction goals over the coming years, which represents just one facet of the Port of San Diego’s ongoing plans for a long-term, comprehensive approach to environmental management.”
The Port is comprised of five member cities: Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City and San Diego. Its jurisdiction consists of waterfront properties spanning approximately 2,500 acres of land and 3,400 acres of water.
