Seasoned Industry Leader Joins Energy Consulting and Management Services Company to Drive Business Growth with Large Commercial and Industrial Energy Users in Northeast
IRVINE, Calif. and NEW YORK – July 26, 2016 – Edison Energy, an independent energy advisory company for the nation’s largest energy users, today announced Kristin Barbato has joined as managing director of enterprise development. In this role, Barbato will work closely with Edison Energy prospects and customers, delivering strategic guidance on a range of projects and Edison Energy service offerings including energy efficiency initiatives, onsite and offsite renewables, supply, financing as well as ownership and operations. Barbato will be based in New York City, where she will also focus on further growing the Edison Energy business in the Northeast.
“As a highly respected energy industry executive with deep domain expertise, Kristin is a valuable addition to the Edison Energy team. Her insight and guidance will benefit customers and prospects grappling with the complex and shifting energy landscape,” said Len Berg, senior vice president, client services at Edison Energy. “Kristin joins the company at an exciting time, as we continue to introduce our unique Energy-as-a-Service model to commercial, industrial and institutional entities across the country — providing simple, unbiased energy management that uncovers cost savings and helps organizations meet critical sustainability goals across their enterprise.”
Barbato brings decades of experience and clean technology leadership to her role at Edison Energy. Prior to Edison Energy, Barbato was vice president of customer energy solutions at the New York Power Authority (NYPA), where she built a new energy services business for public sector customers. Previous to NYPA, she was deputy commissioner/chief energy management officer for New York City. To implement PlaNYC, the city’s long-term sustainability plan, Barbato’s team managed the country’s largest energy infrastructure and operations with an annual budget of $1.3 billion. Hundreds of energy projects for more than 4,000 municipal facilities, and various programs for efficiency, renewables, and building performance, were under her leadership.
Before her PlaNYC role, Barbato was director of business development for global energy, water and environmental services company Veolia Environnement S.A. She also worked for Con Edison and Florida Power & Light utilities in various departments, including strategic planning, customer operations, engineering and information technology.
Barbato holds a B.S. in civil engineering from Cornell University, an M.S. in organizational leadership from Mercy College and an MBA from Columbia University. She is also an adjunct professor at Columbia and New York University, and serves on the advisory board for The Tom Coughlin Jay Fund to support families of children with cancer.
