Scope
Edison Energy’s Engineering Solutions Team was contracted by Temple University to perform a CO oxidation catalyst retro-fit project. Temple has 20 Caterpillar 3516 natural gas lean burn engines, which are used as peaking units specifically for the University. Edison Energy was responsible for the complete turnkey retro-fit project including design, material procurement, installation and guaranteed performance of CO oxidation catalysts to bring the generating plant into full RICE NESHAP compliance. The installation of the CO Catalyst units took approximately 10 weeks and relied on the complete cooperation of the Temple and Edison Energy teams.

Customer Value
Not only was this project completed on schedule, but after final CO testing at the stacks, the results indicated that the units were all operating well within RICE NESHAP emission requirements, and have seen at least 93% reduction. This project was pivotal in helping Temple University meet compliance and reduce energy costs within their generators.
