Welcome, Kiwa!
Tell us your background, a little bit about yourself, and how you ended up at Edison Energy.
My most recent work experience was at Xcel Energy on the Clean Transportation team, where I focused on policy and regulatory effectiveness. With the goal to join a company that was whole-heartedly committed to advancing clean energy and decarbonization initiatives, Edison Energy stood out to me as a leader in this space. Furthermore, I align myself with the supportive culture and commitment to DEIJ within the company and look forward to contributing to these pursuits.
What is your role at Edison Energy?
As a Policy Analyst, I support the Policy team in research, analysis, and strategy development from the lens of policy and regulation. From communicating the ways through which clients can take advantage of the IRA to analyzing the different green pathways available for clients at the utility scale, the Policy Team is crucial to meeting clients’ diverse needs and delivering a holistic approach to meeting each clients’ sustainability and decarbonization goals.
Share something unique to your role and a specific skill set that others may be surprised to know about.
A key function of my role is being a translator between two worlds. It is crucial to be able to decipher and analyze complex information related to policy, rate cases, and the like. However, it is equally important to understand how to effectively repackage and deliver this information in the client in a way that is clear, concise, and offers a path forward. By bridging the gap between the policy experts and clients from a diverse set of fields, we create an invaluable education and support system as our clients pursue their goals.
What advice would you give to a peer who is looking to pursue a similar career path?
Understand that you will always have some sort of knowledge gap and that’s perfectly okay. Information in the policy and regulatory spaces is always evolving and being updated. Remind yourself of your skills in research, analysis, and communication that will enable you to get up to speed and ultimately be an asset to your team.
Share an interesting fact about yourself.
I played DIII women’s golf at Macalester College. I am a bit rusty, but I am trying to continue this hobby as I acclimate to a new city, Springfield, IL.
